DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY

TO ALL CURRENT AND PROSPECTIVE
STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF:

Saint Louis University’s Department of Public Safety is dedicated to creating a campus environment that is safe and secure. Using its “community-based policing philosophy,” the department is proud of its core values: COMMUNITY, INTEGRITY, SERVICE and FAIRNESS. As these values indicate, the department is sensitive to the needs and expectations of the entire University community. The Department of Public Safety actively seeks the assistance of all University students, faculty and staff to participate on various advisory committees on our local campus. These committees work with DPS to address security and safety issues. This proactive approach has empowered our students, faculty and staff and has resulted in an informed, safety-conscious University community.

It is in your best interest to familiarize yourself with campus safety at Saint Louis University and to be aware of the policies, procedures and services that make the University a safe and comfortable environment for learning, working and living.

This website covers the safety and security policies, procedures and services on the St. Louis campus and at the University’s various satellite facilities. It also summarizes campus crime statistics through 2004 and highlights programs to educate the University community about safe living habits. This year’s report also includes the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act notification.

If you have any questions about this website or safety at Saint Louis University in general, please call (314) 977-3877, or e-mail the department at dps@slu.edu.
